Ban on import, export of contraband still being enforced
The Katsina Region Command of the Nigeria Customs Provider has claimed the ban on the export and import of contraband remains irrespective of the reopening of the Jibiya border.
The Command Comptroller, Wada Chedi, manufactured the clarification Wednesday afternoon though parading products seized from smugglers in April.
The seized things had been worth N31,454,113, the customs claimed.
“I want the typical public to get this distinct, the ban on the importation or exportation of contraband remains enforced. So, contraband shouldn’t be imported mainly because the intention is to make the place self-reliant. We will also intensify surveillance on all the borders and other routes to make sure compliance,” he stated.
The Nigeria Customs Support mentioned President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the reopening of 4 much more land borders.

The borders are Idiroko in Ogun, Jibiya in Katsina, Kamba in Kebbi and Ikom in Cross River.
Seized goods
Some of the seized merchandise, in accordance to Mr Chedi, had been a few Toyota vehicles, two Peugeot cars, two Golf autos, Boxer Bus, and Practice Bus valued at N8,626,500.
The seized objects were 398 luggage of overseas rice, 244 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 40 cartons of overseas Macaroni, 39 cartons of vegetable oil, 95 cartons of PMS motor spirit, 125 pieces of cow skin, 143 Gasoline cylinders among others valued at N22, 827,613.
